We hit 100, so…
•09/02/2012 • Leave a CommentThe 12 Months We Were Separated…
•08/02/2012 • Leave a CommentIts that time of every second year again… FotoFreo. And yet again I am going to plague you with my trials and tribulations of putting together an exhibition.
Myself, and 3 of my fellow Ex-Tafe Nyerds are putting together a show under the banner of 12 Months of Separation. The concept being that we exhibit work that we have produced since graduating, highlighting where each of us have traveled photographically since.
Though I have not fully confirmed (or shot…) all of the images I’m planning on showing I have been a busy bee. You may notice in your travels that ALL OP SHOPS ARE NOW VACANT OF FRAMES! This is because I have acquired them all. Every last one. [if citation is required, please make further inquires with Charles]. I am trying to keep it thrifty.
We have a crowdfunding page up at the moment. Whats crowdfunding I hear you asking? Well its where we humbling request you give us dollars in exchange for REWARDS! Yes, shiny new things for you to cherish like a newborn. All donations go into the draw to win an original piece of their choice from the show, not to mention our endless gratitude on making our show that little bit more magical. If you are interested, please head over to here.
Happy New Year

•04/12/2011 • Leave a CommentI love working with designers because there is a certain element of care taken when shooting their garments. When a stylist rolls in a rack of clothing its no big deal, but for a designer; these garments have been laboured over stitch by stitch; having started with an idea and then having had to flesh it out into reality. It is this intimate connection with the pieces which can bring something to a shoot that can not be found in any other way.
I had the pleasure of working with a local talent. Yan Zion is an award willing graduate from Curtin. She has shown her garments both here and overseas. She took the time to collaborate with me on a shoot recently. Each of her garments is carefully conceived and constructed. I found it hard to believe that one was even made from toilet paper. I hope that you enjoy her work as much as I.
The Weekend of LOMO
•09/11/2011 • Leave a CommentHey all! I just wanted to give you all a bit of a heads up on some rather fun stuff which is going down this weekend. Friday night is the opening party of LOMOVEMBER! Pigeonhole‘s Annual fundraiser for the Movember Cause. There will be 100 works by Lomo artists being silently auctioned off, including 2 of my pieces. Get on down for some cool times. RSVP here.
Also in the mix this weekend are Lomo Workshops.A series of these will be held over the weekend being hosted by Yolanda Stapleton, Matt Biocich and myself! If you would like to take part, it only costs $20. Bring along your lomo camera, some film and get ready to have a good time. Email lomovember@pigeonhole.com.au for more info and make sure that if you want to be in my group, please make a note of it!!
Love film long time!
News!
•22/10/2011 • Leave a CommentSorry about the long silence; have had a few sad occasions but we are all back on track now. And! With some news for you.
Firstly thanks to everyone at Pigeonhole who have kindly asked if I can speak at some Lomo workshops they are running next month. Its both exciting and a little scary. I cant wait to spew film knowledge at unsuspecting people haha.
Next news is that I have got 2 works in the Annual Lomovember event. The exhibition and auction raises funds for the Movember effort, a month of fun, beady upper lips and fundraising to promote awareness for mens health. Make sure you get down to see the show on the 11th November.
Final news is that I sneakily entered film pictures into Team Digital’s Golden Shopping Trolley Awards… Hopefully no one notices…. right…

There is more of this coming for a show. Keep your eyes peeled for me standing around waving a ball of black electrical tape in the street.
Also as a special bonus for all those of you who bother to read these posts… who wants to do a print swap? My picturey bits for your picturey bits.

My Life: A Project in Still Life
•08/08/2011 • 2 CommentsI collect alot of junk. I have an assortment of glass from a variety of sources. I have stolen metal number tags off power poles. I own what I have been told is a raccoon skull. And I realise that sitting around in my home is not while I collected all these oddities. It was to make photographs with them. And so I have decided to put together a small project for myself and take all those photos I have been meaning to take.
Fashion Experimentation
•25/07/2011 • 1 CommentI was feeling a touch glum while editing these images. Not because I don’t like them, they just ended up a little different from what I’d initially gone out to achieve. And I feel like every shoot I do, I end up with the same lighting set up. I am going to make a conscious effort to get out of the habit and come up with something new and fresh! In the meantime here is how I went about making myself happier with the images…
